RIP Steve Jobs.

As I settle into my life as a 9-5 working girl, there are a few things I’ve done to customize my cube. The first - I bought a Kate Spade wall calendar to keep track of vacations, appointments etc. So pretty. Second, I displayed my school flag on one wall, and pictures of my favorite places on the other. Third, I have a special section next to my computer of three things that make me the most happy. The first is a mini Eiffel Tower that I picked up on my travels abroad. Next to that, I have a Honey Suckle Lafco candle that smells divine. And last but not least, I have a picture frame that my sister gave me on my graduation this year. Inside the frame is a quote that I try to live by:
“This is your life. Do what you love, and do it often. If you don’t like something, change it. If you don’t like your job, quit. If you don’t have enough time, stop watching TV. If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. Stop over analyzing, all emotions are beautiful. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Life is simple. Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them. Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself. Some opportuniites only come once, seize them. Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them so go out and start creating. Life is short. Live your dream, and wear your passion.”

I’m currently loving my new J.Crew scarf in grey leopard. Super light weight and cozy. It was a little more than I usually spend on a scarf, but totally worth it. I picture myself wearing it with many many fall outfits. I highly recommend adding this beauty to your fall wardrobe.

Life goes on,

One of my favorite blogs, Sequins and Stripes, posted a beautiful spread about her fall favorites. I loved it so much I had to share it here. As the official first day of fall approaches, it’s time to smart lighting those cinnamon infused candles, cuddling up with a cozy blanket and watching You’ve Got Mail on repeat.
Make sure to check out the original post to see where to buy everything.
“Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms.”
Would love this as a print for my gallery wall.

My favorite time of year is right around the corner. Happy “it’s finally starting to feel like fall” weekend! Stay tuned for my fall favorites next week. Until then, I leave you with a Sex and the City quote that will have you pulling out your favorite blanket, opening your windows and dreaming of falling leaves.
“There is a time of year in New York when, even before the first leaf falls, you can feel the seasons click. The air is crisp, the summer is gone. And for the first night in a long time, you need a blanket on your bed. It brings up other needs as well…”

Today, the much anticipated Missoni for Target launched. Being the neurotic freak that I am, I woke up extra early this morning to make sure I got my favorite pieces online. I wasn’t able to make it to a store in NYC, so this was my only option. I shopped with ease, and was all paid for and done by 7am. As soon as I got to work, my co-worker - who had also shopped online early, and I realized we were some of the lucky ones. Target.com crashed almost immediately as an influx of Missoni crazed fans bombarded the site. It was pure Missoni Madness! Eek. Oh well. I’m super excited for my purchases to come in the mail, and I’m praying they are just as fabulous in person as they are online. The few pieces I bought are pictured above — enjoy!

I recently indulged in a Blissage at Bliss Spa in NYC. It was heavenly. And, since I’m a sucker for impulse buys, I knew I would be SOL when I was checking out. I bought the usual Body Butter in Lemon/Sage, and I added in some bubble bath, too, since fall is just around the corner. Then, as I was checking out I noticed a beautiful display called “Fabulips”. Since I’m always looking for the latest lip remedies, I asked about it and was sold instantly. It’s an amazing “kit” that has a foaming lip scrub, a lip exfoliator, a lip plumper AND a chap stick - for only $45! I seriously can’t stop using the lip plumper. It looks amazing, and doesn’t give you that Lip Fusion “OMG WHAT IS HAPPENING” feeling/look. I highly recommend snagging some of these new products ASAP.
My newest OOTM (Obsession of the Moment) are my Tory Burch Leopard Eddie flats. Aren’t they to dieee for?! I’ve wanted leopard TB’s for a while, but never pulled the trigger. Until now. I couldn’t stop dreaming about how amazing they will be in the fall with my skinnys, tights and a black dress, leggings etc. So many options! Also, because of FNO, I got an equally amazeballs Tory Tote for free! Everyone should check out Tory Burch and find some amazing steals of your own!

Come on Eileen — d/b/a Come on “Irene”

1. Your sister/friend/family: I decided to stay with my sister as we brave Irene this weekend. My 18th floor apartment didn’t seem like the best choice compared to her 5th floor walk-up.
2. Lafco Candles: incase the power goes out, we’ll be able to see, and it’ll smell delicious.
3. Smartwater: to stay hydrated.
4. Wine: need I say more?
5. Maglite: for exploring dark caves, errrr I mean stairwells, if the power goes out.
6. Hummus: deeeeelicious dips are essential for staying inside for a few days.
7. Trader Joe’s Chocolate Peanut Crunch Bites: for something sweet after the hummus.
8. Movies: my sister rented some interesting films that hopefully will occupy our time…fingers crossed the power doesn’t go out!
Good luck to everyone braving Irene this weekend — stay safe and dry!
Beautifulness. Yes, I know that isn’t a word, but it sums this tablescape perfectly.
